NCB Company Philosophies
The company philosophies clearly set out what it means to be the NCB. They define the company, culture and benchmark the attitudes, behaviours and decisions which set the company up for success. For the NCB to be a huge success, we can’t talk about them, we must live by them.
The long term profitability will measure whether the spiritual ‘stuff’ is in place. The spiritual ‘stuff’ is things like our morale, team spirit, leadership, individual self esteem and how team members relate and communicate with each other and our students.
You can have two teams that are physically equal but one can have a better team spirit, better morale etc and the difference can be huge. The measurement of our spiritual application will come in our results – in our bottom line.
THE STUDENT IS PARAMOUNT
- We care for all of our students (including ourselves, team, suppliers and guests to the college).
- All company dealings are always done with upmost respect, with complete honesty and integrity
- We give our students great value for money and exceptional service
- We know that when we look after our students, they will look after us.
- We do whatever it takes to WOW our students and to assist them in choosing the best course for them. We do this plus assist them to achieve their goals.
BELIEVING IN WHAT WE DELIVER
- We believe in doing whatever it takes to go extra mile and provide a WOW experience for our students
- We know we have only one chance to make a first impression. Because of this, the college has always 5 star standard. We too always present well in terms of our appearance, clothing, presentation and communication.
- We treat all guests who come to the college with a host mentality.
- We accept and are grateful for feedback given to us.
COMMON SENSE BEFORE CONVENTIONAL WISDOM
- We look for the logical solution, not the traditional way of doing things.
- If others are doing things a certain way, we consider the opposite.
- We are always looking out for a better way of doing things.
- We do our own thinking; we don’t let others do it for us.
- We are always thinking pro-actively and are looking for the best and most efficient way of doing things, to make it easier for the next person. Always leave a profit.
- We recruit 3 types of people – dreamers, achievers and challengers. Dreams ask What if and create the possibilities? Achievers ask How can do make it happen? And Challengers ask questions to cover all bases. They don’t make statements are not negative. We embrace all people around us because as a team we contribute more.
EQUITALITY
- In our company, there are no privileges unless everyone has them.
- We endeavour to promote from within whenever possible however we will always look for the best person for the job which is in the best interest of the company.
- Our company has no receptionists, individual offices or secretaries.
- We employ intelligent people to do real work, not menial tasks delegated downwards.
- Our aim is for work to be play, and for it to be fun and challenging for everyone.
STANDARD SYSTEMS ARE THE BASIS OF OUR SUCCESS

- There is a strict set of agreed systems however people are encouraged to think outside the square for a better way
- We know there is only one best way to operate and everyone is expected to operate that way
- Our systems are created for our people by our people in an environment that stimulates change
- The systems are basic and straightforward. There is no additional systems or checklists that are unnecessary or serve no purpose
- Bureaucracy and red tape are outlawed
OUR STRUCTURE IS SIMPLE, TEAM-BASED AND LEAN
- We work towards a maximum of seven people per college

- There is open communication. No one in the team gossips or talks about issues unless it is with the person involved
- Any challenges are to presented to the team leader with 3 possible solutions
- Each person in the company is striving to develop their leadership skills and personal development skills everyday.
- All of us have the opportunity to own a part of the company by creating and adding value consistently
- If a person is not contributing, growing and adding value to the company, it is time to move on.
- Each person in the company enjoys constant change and living outside their comfort zone.
WE ACCEPT THE OAR CONCEPT
- Everyday we take Ownership, we are Accountable and are Responsible for ourselves and the company
- In our company, we know our purpose and what role we play
- We set our own goals (which are always a stretch, but achievable) and have a plan on how to achieve them.
- We select the right people, know the purpose of their role, measure the achievement of that purpose, give incentives to that measurement and recognise the achievement.
- We believe that “what gets rewarded gets done and repeated”
- We do everything plus more to achieve our goals – and do whatever it takes.
- Our organisation believes in maximising our personal development
WE BELIEVE IN OUR COMPANY BEING PROFITABLE
- We accept that unless our company is consistently profitable, it cannot pay our salaries, incentives, suppliers, dividends and increase in value. We know that profit is the best measurement of whether we are providing a service to the business community and to individuals that they value.
